
Plainfield Twp. firefighter investigated for using Facebook to solicit minors GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - The Kent County Sheriff's Department is investigating a Plainfield Township on-call firefighter for soliciting a child for immoral purposes using Facebook. The suspect has been with the fire department since 1993 and is also a Plainfield Township employee. He is required by law to register as a sex offender. He has been suspended from the fire department, but has not been arrested. Investigators do not believe the suspect ever had any physical contact with the child or children. Officers with a warrant today conducted a search of his home and took his computer. Computers from his workplaces are also being examined and the investigation is continuing. As part of his firefighter duties, the Kent County Sheriff's Department says he did attend the Fall Festival at the East Oakview Elementary School on October 23, 2009 with other Plainfield Firefighters. School officials have been notified of the investigation. Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the information will be forwarded to the Kent County Prosecutor's Office for possible charges.
