Life in prison for man who killed Roosevelt Park realtor MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) - The Muskegon man who admitted to killing his former realtor will spend life behind bars. Last month, a judge ruled 74-year-old Robert Johnson committed first degree premeditated murder, which comes with the mandatory sentence of life without parole. Johnson shot Troy VanderStelt, 33, in his Roosevelt Park office in July of 2008. Witnesses say Johnson began talking about shooting Troy VanderStelt a year before the murder. Johnson had nothing to say at today's sentencing, but VanderStelt's family thanked the court and told Johnson how the murder has affected them. The family told Johnson the hardest questions to answer are the questions Troy's two young children ask. They also say six people's lives were saved or enriched after receiving transplants of Troy's organs.
